Learn how to delete your UniPrep account and understand what data will be removed.

⚠️ Important Notice

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once your account is deleted, all your data will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Please ensure you have exported any important data before proceeding.

How to Delete Your Account

Delete Your Account Directly in the App (Recommended)

The fastest and easiest way to delete your account is directly from the UniPrep mobile app.

To delete your account in the app:

  1. Open the UniPrep app
  2. Go to App Settings
  3. Select Delete Account
  4. Confirm your decision

Your account will be deleted immediately and all data will be permanently removed.

If you no longer have access to the app, you can request deletion via email by following these steps:

1 Send an Email Request

Compose an email from the email address registered with your UniPrep account to:

support@uniprep.ng

2 Use the Correct Subject Line

In your email subject line, please use:

3 Include Required Information

In the body of your email, please include:

  • Your registered email address
  • Full name associated with the account
  • Reason for deletion (optional, but helps us improve)
  • Confirmation that you understand this action is permanent

4 Wait for Confirmation

Our support team will:

  • Verify your identity and account ownership
  • Send a confirmation email within 48 hours
  • Process your deletion request within 30 days
  • Send a final confirmation once deletion is complete

Data That Will Be Deleted

Upon successful account deletion, the following data will be permanently removed from our systems:

  • User Account and Authentication Data: Email, password (hashed), account creation date, last login information
  • Academic Profile and Preferences: Study goals, preferred subjects, difficulty settings, notification preferences
  • Test History and Performance Data: All completed practice tests, scores, time spent, performance analytics
  • App Usage Data: Feature usage statistics, session durations, interaction logs
  • Study Progress: Completed lessons, progress tracking, streak information
  • Saved Content: Bookmarked questions, saved notes, favorite flashcards
  • Subscription Information: Active subscription details, payment history (processed separately)
  • Personal Information: Name, profile picture, and any other personal details provided

Data Retention Timeline

Within 24 Hours

  • Account access is disabled immediately upon request verification
  • No further login attempts will be possible
  • Active sessions are terminated

Within 7 Days

  • Personal identifiable information is pseudonymized
  • Direct account references are removed from active systems
  • Service access is completely revoked

Within 30 Days

  • All data is permanently deleted from our databases
  • Backups containing your data are purged in accordance with our retention policy
  • Final deletion confirmation is sent to your email address

Note: Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for statistical purposes, but this data cannot be traced back to individual users.

Important Considerations

Subscription and Payments

If you have an active subscription:

  • Account deletion does not automatically cancel your subscription
  • You must cancel your subscription separately through the App Store or Google Play Store
  • No refunds are provided for partial subscription periods
  • Please cancel your subscription before requesting account deletion

Data Backup

Before requesting deletion, consider:

  • Exporting your test history and performance reports
  • Saving any notes or study materials you've created
  • Recording your progress and achievements if needed for academic records

Alternative Options

If you're unsure about permanent deletion, consider:

  • Account Deactivation: Temporarily disable your account without deleting data
  • Data Export: Request a copy of all your data before making a decision
  • Privacy Settings: Adjust your privacy preferences instead of deleting
  • Contact Support: Discuss concerns with our support team first
